Locos

Also known as “locomotives” and “motive power”, these are the units used to haul trains on a railroad. You can set up locos for your railroad which can then be used in trains in the application. To view a list of your current locos, click the Locos link in the Navigation Menu. For full access to this section you need to be logged in.

To edit an existing loco click the Edit link in the Options column of the list for the locos you want to edit. To create a new loco, click the New link located at the top of the list.

The form for adding and editing a locomotive are as follows:

  • Loco Number - This should include any reporting mark (where applicable) and numeric number for a locomotive.
  • Manufacturer - This is the manufacturer of the prototype locomotive, not the scale model manufacturer. The scale model manufacturer can be included in the Description textarea if necessary.
  • Horse Power Rating - This is the horse power rating of the locomotive.
  • Owner RR - The owner of the railroad in the MRICF, not the owner of the prototype locomotive. Eg, railroad ITC in the MRICF may have a locomotive that is a Conrail (CR) locomotive so in this example the Owner would be indicated as ITC rather than CR.
  • Available To - This is an indicator of what railroads can allocate the locomotive to their trains. If “Owner RR” is selected, on the railroad indicated in the “Owner RR” field can use the locomotive. If “Owner+Affiliated RRs” is selected then the Owner RR plus any railroads affiliated with it can use the locomotive in their trains. If “All RRs” is selected then the locomotive can be used by all railroads in their trains.
  • Description - A longer description of the locomotive. This can include things like the wheel arrangement, weight, type (steam, electric, deisel electric, etc), the scale model manufacturer, and a physical description / appearance of the locomotive.

To save the data entered, click the Update button at the bottom of the form.

To delete the record, tick the Delete checkbox underneath the Update button, then click the Delete button that appears.
